QUESTION FOR DAN:
I own a small market station whose morning team is under the understanding that they are to run their show EXACTLY the same every day. Every feature, every stunt, every contest, is run at the exact same time every day. I am not sure if this is right or not. So, I thought I would ask the expert. What do you think?
It depends upon what they are trying to accomplish.
If their goal is do their show with as little effort as possible, then they are making the right choice.
But if their goal is to get as many people to listen for as long as possible, they are making the wrong choice.
What they are offering the audience is a completely predictable show. And in radio, being predictable is being dead.
