Hey! Did you know you can hear samples of almost everything we have?

SELLING PARODY SONG

QUESTION:

I'm working for a recording studio that's got a great topical parody song that they want me to try and market for them. They'd like to make some money off of it. I'm an old radio person and they thought I might know how to do that (ha!). Should we post a clip on the web? Any advice? Who to call...?

DAN REPLIES:

It's very hard to make money off a single novelty song. You might offer it to a local morning show, local market rights only, for $100, and hope that others want to pay $100 each for their markets. But I think it's unlikely you'll make substantial amount of money.
